Allright, so one of the things I'd like to do with fiore/avalon is to run a caption contest.  See, I got these funny japanese pokemon comic books in Japan and I'd like to use them in caption contests.  Anyway, just to give you an idea, this is what would serve for the caption contest.

If this'll work, I'd like to start the first caption/bubble contest with this. :D  Thoughts/suggestions welcome, click comment, please and thank you.

GAAHH!

Well if that hasn't been a painful week and a half, I don't know what it was!  My most sincere apologies for the forums being slapped into stasis by that error that robbed the template of all the images.  Meridian is now the default template though, and is, more or less, finished.  The new board configuration is not entirely finished, there are a couple of things I am still not quite happy about.

There are also a lot of things left to be finished, unfortunately.  There's still things that aren't showing up, such as a thank post mod, links that should be appearing at the top of the board index, along with other things. =\

But on the bright side, the forums and the site are integrated pretty completely, navigation is all set, userbases are synced.  Unfortunately, as you may have seen earlier today, freakin' fiore would not transfer properly when I tried to put it in the root directory, so I just whipped up a fresh install of joomla and installed it directly into the root folder, and then redid everything that I had on fiore, into the new one.  The only difference is that I've not transferred over the articles that people wrote up on fiore.  Fiore is still accessible at http://battlefrontier.net/fiore/  So if anyone has a chance to retreive their article, and then post it in the article manager here, please do so.

Staff Application

Staff Application is up as well, interested, please fill it out.  Staff Application can be filled out by anyone, though I do expect people who had been mods and admins to fill this out, and to take it seriously.  (Though I expect anyone filling it out to take it seriously, this point is especially true for current staff.)

I'm trying to bring up this interesting chat im client I found, it's linked to in the community menu, (Chat) I dunno if we'll want to use it over irc, but I figured having a local alternative might make things more fluid, one login system.

Anyway, once again my apologies for the excessively long journey this has taken.

But yeah, I think this'll be a good start.

Hey everyone,

I'm back home in America, and I've had an opportunity to resume my work on Fiore and Avalon at long last.  With any luck we'll be sticking to schedule and Fiore and Avalon will be ready to launch on schedule; probably on August 28th or so would be my guess.  That said, here's what's going to be happening between now and then.

- finish frontpage layout on fiore, along with some basic global site layout scheme.
- finish coding avalon
- get avalon's profiles finished
- make certain everything's integrated into drop down navigation
- get fiore and avalon synced
- last minute touches, bug fixes to fiore

Once we're at this point, probably on the 25th or 26th, I'll be disabling http://battlefrontier.net/forums and begin transfering everything.  Fiore will move to http://battlefrontier.net and we'll overwrite all the existing files in /forums with avalon's files.  Then run all of Avalon's db queries on /forums and do a quick check to make sure everything's intact.  Then, switch the default style over to the new default style, and we'll be all set.

Then, with everything all set up, we'll get to work on that ladder/ranking system and get it's color scheme integrated with fiore and avalon and then sync it's database, and that'll be good.  Then I expect we'll spend some time working on articles, newsposts, advertising, while we figure out what the hell to do with the gts.  After we get the gts finished, and have some half way decent content, I intend to go hunting for some other forum/sites to join up with us.

And that, in a nutshell is the plan.

This is the test site for the development of Fiore; BattleFrontier's new site.

Fiore is, should the bf community decide, their new site and community and will feature several primary features in addition to the forum; a ladder/ranking system, a global trade station, and a friend code database.  Fiore is in fact ultimately meant to replace the current BattleFrontier.net site.

Avalon, though, is not a replacement for the current bf forums, rather all of the dev work, coding, that is done on Avalon will simply be switched to the current forum, once it is finished. No posts or users or anything will be changed or altered by this, all that will happen is that one second BattleFrontier's forums will be what they are now, and then the next second they will look like Avalon does, with all of Avalon's features as well.

Avalon and the current Fiore dev site are slated to go live in late August.
